Rural Earthmoving & Property Works
North East and East Coast Tasmania
Rural earthmoving in the North East Tasmania requires a different kind of experience than urban or suburban work. The terrain varies dramatically - flood plains around Fingal, rocky basalt country through parts of the North East, sandy coastal soils on the East Coast, and wet, heavy clay in the ranges above Scottsdale and Derby. Knowing how to work efficiently in those different conditions, which machine to use on what ground, and what road base and drainage specifications suit rural applications is knowledge that comes from years of work in this specific region.
North East Excavations has been carrying out rural earthmoving and property works across Fingal, St Marys, Scottsdale, Derby, Winnaleah, and the East Coast for decades. Farm tracks, dams, culverts, land clearing, and agricultural drainage - practical work for rural landholders who need it done properly and within a realistic budget.
Rural Services
Farm Track & Access Road Construction
New farm access roads and upgrades to existing tracks across Fingal, St Marys, Derby, Scottsdale, and the rural East Coast and North East.
A well-built farm track - properly subgraded, formed, drained, and road-based - lasts for years and handles the vehicles and machinery that working rural properties put through them. A track built on topsoil lasts one wet season before it rutts, softens, and becomes a problem. We carry out subgrade excavation, formation grading, and road base placement - with budget road base or VicRoads-compliant material through St Helens Quarries, depending on the load requirements and use.
Culvert & Water Crossing Installation
Culvert supply and installation for farm track water crossings across North East Tasmania. Properly sized and installed culverts prevent the seasonal washout damage that affects many rural properties in the region during heavy-rain periods. We'll advise on sizing for your catchment, excavate accurately, install, and backfill with drainage aggregate.
Dam & Water Storage Excavation
Excavation for stock dams, irrigation water storage, and water supply infrastructure on rural properties across the Fingal Valley, St Marys, and the East Coast. Reliable on-property water storage matters for rural operations - particularly through dry summers on the East Coast. We match the right excavator to the job and work efficiently to get productive capacity in the ground.
Land Clearing
Selective clearing, stump removal, and site preparation for pasture improvement, cropping, subdivision, or development across rural North East Tasmania. Our excavators carry log grabs and ripper attachments suited to clearing work across the varied vegetation types of the East Coast and North East - from coastal scrub through to denser hill country vegetation.
Agricultural Drainage
Open drain construction, subsurface drainage, and water table management for productive land around Fingal, St Marys, and the East Coast and North East. Good agricultural drainage extends the productive season, improves trafficability, and protects crop and pasture from waterlogging. We work with landholders to get drainage that actually performs - not just drains that look right on the day.
Local Knowledge of North East & East Coast Terrain
The value of working with a local operator in rural North East Tasmania is hard to quantify until you've dealt with someone who doesn't know the conditions. Access tracks that look passable aren't always. Ground that looks dry isn't always. The approaches that work in the Fingal Valley don't always work on the ranges above Scottsdale. Our operators have been working in this region for long enough to know the difference - and that experience is part of what makes jobs here go more smoothly and cost less to complete.
